Where I Live #TheGallery

Where I live just now isn't a very exciting place to live. It's a small town in Scotland where, well if I'm honest, isn't where I would have pictured myself living however it's where I met Husband and I'm kind of stuck here unless I can convince Husband to move. It isn't that bad really and we're lucky that we have lots of parks and beaches within walking or driving distance which makes it a good place for the kids to grow up.

For this post though, I thought I would share where I used to live. I've lived in quite a few places in my twenty-some years including Mexico and Spain. It's my time in Spain I want to share with you.

That's me wearing a shower cap for a sunhat.

We stayed in a little resort called Alkabir which is in Campello near Alicante. We moved there when I was around a year old. My dad owned the mini market in the resort which also welcomed families for their holidays. We were just a short walk from the pool where we spent quite a lot of our time. We moved back to Scotland for a short time and my Sister was born. Shortly after, we moved back to our home in Spain.

There are lots of things I remember about our time there even though I was only 3 or 4 years old. I remember running to the mini market stark naked one day, as you do. I also remember having a cat called Patch, who had kittens, and a dog called Susie, who used to poo all over the house. I remember being friends with a little girl from Germany who used to visit for her holidays. She was a bit older than me.

One of the best memories I have of our time in Spain was eating. We used to have so many big feasts like the one in this picture. Families would just come together in one of the villas and bring so much food with them, it felt like we were eating forever. There were curries, rice dishes, salads and, my favourite thing to eat, shelled prawns. I would sit myself in front of the prawn platter, at the age of 3 or 4, and shell my prawn to eat. They were so good with a squirt of lemon.

I'd love to go back to where I lived with the kids and show them around where I spent my toddler and first school years as it was a completely different way of life compared to living in Scotland.
