My First Horse Riding Lesson

On Sunday, I decided to join Miss C for a horse riding lesson. This was my first lesson in around 15 years. I used to go horse riding all the time when I was younger and I really enjoyed it. It's such a fun hobby and you make so many friends in the stables. You dedicate your weekends to mucking out the horses, grooming them and feeding them and playing on the hay bales. There's just no time to get in to trouble!

I rode a horse called Bandit. He was really nice to ride; he had a super smooth transition in to canter. Trotting was a bit bumpy and that's probably the thing I need to keep working on because it isn't as easy to rise up and down. I also need to work on turning my legs in so my knees are constantly connected to the horse. All the things you forget or that come naturally once you've been away from riding for some time. Let me tell you, my legs and bum are aching still!

I really loved my lesson though and all the nerves melted away as soon as I was on Bandit. I'm going to go once a month at the same time as Miss C. She goes every fortnight at the moment and eventually, once I'm working full time, I'd like to go with her every weekend. It's an expensive hobby but it is so much fun and I can't wait to have a special thing that Miss C and I can share.

Husband kindly filmed some of the lesson for a vlog which you can watch below:
