31 Day Blogging Challenge - My 5 Current Goals

At the beginning of every year, instead of setting myself resolutions, I make a list of around 10 things I'd like to do more or be better at in that year. You can check our my list for this year in this post.

So instead of telling you my five current goals, I thought I'd pick 5 from my list and write an update on how I am getting on.

  • Get a job (once I finish my HND)
Although I'm currently in the process of completing my HND Childhood Practice, I am a qualified nursery teacher or Early Learning and Childcare Practitioner, which is the official title. However I stayed on to do my HND so I can progress in to the final year of the BA in Childhood Practice in around two years time as I can do my studies whilst working and have it fully funded. The criteria for qualification to be a nursery teacher is changing; it is going to be a fully degree led profession by 2025 (at least that is the case in Scotland). Being qualified already means I can go out and work and I was recently accepted to join the supply list for my local authority. What this means is, I can work just now on my days off college and placement and I'll be able to get some form of work as soon as I finish college in June.
  • Use Instagram more
I am definitely trying hard with this one. I try to post a photo a day which is a lot more than what I was posting last year. You can find me on Instagram as LauraYMFT. There's usually a lot of photos of the kids and lots of food.
  • Take better care of my skin
I started a cleansing routine which I do every night although at the weekend, I use a face mask too. My skin has actually been a bit of a mess since starting it and in particular around my chin area which my beautician said can be caused by hormones. I'm still sticking to the routine but it's getting me down that my skin is in such bad condition just now.
  • Be a bit healthier
Having said all of the above about my skin, I guess my diet could be a problem too. I love chocolate and crisps which probably don't help my skin or my weight. I'm not overweight by any means but I could be in better shape. I enjoy my food too much so instead of cutting things out completely, I have what I enjoy in moderation. It's definitely harder in the colder months but as summer approaches and it gets warmer, I'm hoping it will be easier. I'm eating more fish and more salads which I love and the kids are eating both too!
  • Spend more time outdoors
This is a tricky one because I'm definitely a fair weather outdoor person. I don't like to be outside when it is raining but since it has been a bit brighter and the mornings are lighter earlier, I've been looking forward to walking to school and college and getting out to the park again. I think it will be much easier for us to enjoy time outdoors as the better weather comes in.
