I left college and moved back to Scotland, to live with my Dad. I took a job at the local McDonalds, which I hated but it was all I could really do until I turned 18 and got a job working for a bank. I enjoyed the job to an extent but it was the people I worked with, who are still good friends to this day, that kept me going back to work every day. Eventually, Husband and I got married and had the kids, and I went part time at work which suited us.
But working in finance was never my dream job. It paid the bills but I didn't feel any sort of sense of achievement doing the job. I applied for college to study Early Education and Childcare and started a few weeks after Miss C started Primary 1.
A year on and I'm in year two of my studies and loving it. I really, really enjoy my placement days and I'm enjoying doing the course work. It really does make me feel like I'm achieving something!
My dream job would be to have my own nursery with amazing facilities but even more amazing staff to work with the children. If I ever won the lottery or came in to money, I'd look at building my own nursery or even a large family centre. The outdoor area would be huge and fit for all types of weather. The centre itself would be able to accommodate a large number of children from babies right through to age 5 and I'd have an area where parents could meet for coffee and cake. It would be amazing!
