Skylanders SuperChargers - Review and Giveaway

A brand-new class of Skylanders, known as SuperChargers are ready to buckle up and throw down in their fight against evil. Skylanders SuperChargers introduces 20 new SuperChargers toys and supports all 300+ Skylanders toys from previous games, enabling any Skylanders character to pilot land, sea or sky-based vehicles. SuperChargers also have special in-game abilities that help defeat the evil Kaos.

We received the starter pack for the PS4 console which includes the game, the portal for your characters, 2 Skylanders and 1 Skylander vehicle. Z was already familiar with the Skylanders concept as he had Skylanders Giants game for his Xbox 360 when it came out a few years ago. We traded the game and all the characters in when he had finished playing the game however, had he kept them, he could have used his characters in the new Supercharges game. We also received 3 additional Skylanders and 3 additional Skylander vehicles which meant Z could start the game and have a variety of characters and vehicles to play with.

Players can take their Skylanders vehicles straight from the real world into the videogame via the Portal of Power to explore the land, sea and skies of Skylands. The vehicles are aligned by element and terrain type, giving players unique abilities and diverse experiences across different settings throughout the game. The vehicles having moving parts such as the tyres which means kids can play with the vehicles outside of the game.

The game delivers a dynamic, story-driven gameplay experience, filled with vehicle-based and on-foot adventure, complete with combat, puzzles, mini games and activities for players to enjoy. There will be 20 new vehicles toys to collect that feature a variety of designs and types such as race cars, motorcycles, boats, tanks, helicopters, jets and submarines.

During the game, players can find ways to customise their vehicles and unlock hidden modifications such as a volcanic booster engine that spews lava rocks and jet wings with feathers made of gold. You can have your Skylander use any vehicle you wish, however if you team your Skylander with its unique signature vehicle, you'll create a SuperCharged combination, unlocking an exclusive modification that revs up the performance of both the vehicle and character.

Z has enjoyed playing Skylanders SuperChargers however he hasn't been able to fully access the game because he needs certain characters or vehicles to enter parts of the Skyland area; something to keep in mind if you purchase this game. Other than that, the game is pretty straightforward and the graphics are bright, fun and clear which is what you'd expect from a child's video game. The character and vehicles switches are very responsive too which means  you don't have to wait for it to load a new character on for you.

Skylanders SuperChargers are available for PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii U, Wii, 3DS and iPad.
