Very Easy Spaghetti Carbonara Recipe

I am a huge lover of pasta. I'd eat it every day of the week if I could and I think the kids would too. My favourite pasta dish to order whenever we go to an Italian is a carbonara. I've never made it for myself because I was always worried it wouldn't taste as good as the "real" stuff.

Then my friend gave me a recipe which is so easy to follow and tastes absolutely amazing. The kids loved it, Husband loved it and I LOVED it. It was just as good as they make it in my favourite Italian restaurant. Definitely one to add to the regular meal planner.


1 onion, finely chopped
1 garlic clove, crushed
Olive oil for frying
Small pack of diced smokey bacon
Spaghetti or linguine
300ml of double cream (use single cream if you want to be healthier)
40g of grated parmesan (fresh or from a tub)
Plenty of black pepper

Let's cook it!

Start by bringing a pan of water to the boil, add in some salt to flavour the pasta and cook your pasta as per pack instructions.

Put a small amount of olive oil in a pan over a low heat and add in your onion, garlic and bacon. Gently fry until the bacon is cooked and then place the onions, garlic and bacon in to a bowl. Set it to the side. Using the same pan so you can combine the juices, stir in your double cream and parmesan. Don't let it boil; just heat it gently. Add in plenty of black pepper and then return your onions, garlic and bacon to the cream mixture.

Drain your pasta and then add it to the sauce. Give it a good stir and then serve. Some garlic bread with this pasta dish goes down a treat!
