Happy New Year 2017

A very Happy New Year to you all. I hope you've had a wonderful day, celebrating or recovering...or both!

Our New Year was very quiet. Husband and I were in bed before midnight. Gone are the days of us partying into the wee hours of the morning (and that doesn't just apply to NYE). We much prefer Christmas and the excitement of seeing if Santa has been and eating far too much.

Despite not really celebrating the New Year, we do have a tradition of eating steak pie for dinner. I make it myself and slow cook the meat for up to 12 hours. It's my Father-in-Law's recipe and, whilst I don't think I've quite got it as good as he does it, it is rather amazing. The kids love it and scrape their plates clean.

We also have a pudding (which isn't a tradition as such, more a Sunday night thing), and whilst I'd like to take credit for making it, I didn't. It's a gingerbread cheesecake with mini chocolate gingerbread men decorations. So cute!

Looks like those gingerbread men are enjoying their New Year!
Our New Year's Day was finished off with the kids snuggling up together in Zachary's bed to watch Hotel Transylvania and with myself trying to find homes for all the new presents we received. Out with the old and all that...
